I recently installed the Enterprise preview for Windows 8.1. I needed a corporate test machine so I installed hyper-v and created a new virtual machine to deploy with SCCM. Therefore i needed to boot from the network and created an external switch and mounted this to my network adapter.

After adding a legacy network adapter for PXE boot, i tried to boot from the network. I noticed that I didn’t receive an IP address from our DHCP server. After a while I noticed the following setting which was enabled by default.

IC666260

When I unchecked this feature the machine received an IP address and booted from the network.

I don’t know what the reason is for this, maybe it’s a bug…but i hope that this blog post helps you out!
